Career Design at Stanford GSB

Challenge

Incoming students at one the world's top business schools felt overwhelmingly isolated and competitive in the first semester at school. How could we change the culture to be more conducive to exploration and collaboration?

Solution

Openfields helped design and facilitate six custom workshops to integrate design-thinking methods developed at the Stanford d.school into the career planning process of top-tier MBA's. The project included extensive interviews with students and faculty, developing a motivation matrix as the basis for designing student pathways, and producing a series of student stories to help narrate the overall vision for the project. 89.9% of student survey respondents would recommend the sessions to others.

“I loved Career Design. I can't believe this was a pilot. Super useful - very well run, well thought out and incredibly useful part of my first quarter."
